Program Notes

Written in March of 2011, this 3-minute fanfare takes a simplistic idea and turns it into a colorful, vibrant work of art. This idea popped in my head during a visit with my good friend and mentor Erik Morales, who was conducting at an honor band locally. The work can only be described as one word, a fanfare! Built off of a little bit of material, the piece is suggestive of a prism, which exposed to sunlight, creates beautiful colors and yet is made with only one beam of light. This is the picture that really inspired the music.
